IMLAY CITY — The Lapeer Lightning 14U softball squad, which includes Imlay City’s Faith Schriber, Jayden Chandler and Ava Nadrowski, pulled up third at the NSA State Tournament recently.

Grand Blanc’s Bicentennial Park is where the tournament was contested.

The team opened tournament action with a 1-0 loss to Team Michigan on Friday, June 21.

They then evened their mark at 1-1, claiming a 4-2 win against Finesse.

The team then rattled off three favorable verdicts on Saturday, June 22. That series of bracket play games included a 16-0 victory over Central Michigan Mashers; a 6-5 triumph against Michigan Batbusters; and a 5-4 win over Northville Broncos.

That was followed Sunday, June 23 with a 4-2 loss to Detroit Prospects and a 12-0 setback to Michigan Classics.

Schriber hit at a formidable .769 clip over the tournament. She collected seven singles, three doubles, two walks and seven RBI along the way.

She also pitched in all seven games, striking out a total of 20 along the way.

Nadrowski (three singles, a double and four walks) had the next best offensive numbers among the Imlay City contingent on hand. She was backed by Chandler (two singles, two walks and one RBI).
