To The Editor:

Although it is over 5 months away, the election is front and center on most news media.

Let’s start with a given; Donald Trump’s persona leaves a lot to be desired.

But, it is also true that he was quite effective as president despite being under constant attack by the Democrats, Progressives and the national media.

In spite of being able to compare how Biden has governed to how Trump governed, there are many who will cast their ballot for Biden just because they don’t like Trump.

From my perspective that is not a good reason. Citizens should cast their ballot based upon who will best serve the interests of this nation.

Look at the last four years:

•U.S. home prices up 47% since Biden took office. The average home price in the U.S. is $421,000. Who can afford that? Not the average worker.

•Grocery store prices up 25%.

•Gas prices up 50%.

•Home insurance up 64%.

•Auto insurance up 52%.

•Inflation was at 1.4% when Biden took office. It climbed to 9% and now is 3.6% but prices haven’t fallen as inflation as gone down.

•Over 7 million known illegal immigrants in the U.S. since Biden took office.

•Fentanyl deaths between 70,000 and 100,000 per year since Biden took office. Fentanyl that was smuggled across the southern border.

Does Biden care about this? Obviously not or he would do something. He is more concerned about Palestinian civilian deaths in Gaza.

•The debacle of his withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

•The Russian invasion of Ukraine spurred by Biden’s feckless policy regarding Afghanistan.

•Hamas attack and slaughter of Israeli citizens and the resulting war financed by Iran that had all of its embargo restrictions lifted by Biden plus billions of dollars returned to Iran by Biden.

•Add to the above that Biden is clearly mentally diminished to any objective observer.

How any responsible voter could look at the last four years and vote for four more of the same escapes me.
