Daniel “Dan” Freeman, age 60, of Imlay City, Michigan, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Daniel Fredrick Freeman was born November 26, 1963 in Mt. Clemens, MI. He is the son of the late Jean and the late Shirley (Brogan) Freeman. Dan grew up in Warren, MI. He is a graduate of Cousino High School, Class of 1982 in Warren, MI. Dan moved to Imlay City in 2011. He married Arla Zittel on August 8, 2015 in Fraser, Michigan.

He was employed as a Production Worker for a total of 26 years beginning at Detroit Axle and retiring from Chrysler Motor Corporation at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, MI.

Dan was the head coach of the Michigan Mustangs through the M.A.B.F. (Macomb Amateur Baseball Federation) for 20 years. He loved to coach girls’ softball and boy’s baseball. Dan enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and going to the casinos. Most of all, Dan loved being a father and grandfather.

He is survived by: his wife, Arla Freeman of Imlay City, MI; daughter: Rachel Freeman of Knoxville, TN and Nicole (Chris) Wilson of Sterling Hgts., MI; his sons, Trevor (Haley) Freeman of Spring Hills, TN and Kenneth (Emily) Hobkirk, Jr. of Lapeer, MI. He is also survived by: his grandson, Jackson Hobkirk; sisters, Diane (Dennis) Morency of Waterford, MI and Donna McCasland of Commerce Twp., MI; his brother, Donnie (Peggy) Przybylski of Shelby, MI; and mother-in-law, Linda Zittel of Vassar, MI.

Dan was preceded in death by: his parents, Jean and Shirley Freeman; and in-laws, Gerald Zittel and Carol Hollenbeck.

The Funeral Services were held Monday, May 20, 2024 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Rodney Sanderson-Smith, McLaren Hospice Chaplin, officiated. Interment followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.
