Jose Chavez, age 89, of Yale, MI went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at McLaren Port Huron Hospital. Jose Eulogio Chavez was born January 3, 1935, in Alaquines, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He is the son of the late Pedro and the late Adelaida (Lopez) Chavez. Jose moved to the United States in the mid 1950s. He married Audelia Macias in Port Huron, MI. They have lived in the Capac and Yale areas for over 50 years.

Jose retired from Chrysler Corporation-Sterling Stamping Plant after 30 years as a Hi-Lo Driver. Jose was also a farmer and grew corn, hay, and soybeans, and was also a cucumber supplier for Gielow Pickles in Lexington, MI. He loved watching boxing and National Geographic and was also quite an aficionado for picking winning numbers for the Daily 3 and Daily 4 drawings in the Michigan Lottery.

Jose is survived by his wife Audelia Macias Chavez; his children Pedro (Ronda) Chavez, Aurora (Robert) Grabbitt, Adelaida (Russell) Kincaid, Yolanda Matthews, Magie (Beno) Castillo, Juana (Manuel) Arguelles, Juan Chavez, Ruben Chavez, Sandra Nicholson, Elena (Darryl) Swain, Sylvia (Gerardo) Lopez, Olivia Chavez, and Julie (Luis) Rojas. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Ramiro Chavez; and his sisters Tomasa Chavez and Carmen Chavez.

Jose was preceded in death by a brother, Victoriano Chavez, and two sisters Paula Chavez and Cleofas Chavez.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Gateway Assembly, 2796 S. Van Dyke, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Jeff Krist officiating.

A Rosary / Scripture service was held at Monday evening at the funeral home.
