Judith “Judy” Hillman, age 71, of Attica, MI, died Monday, April 15, 2024, at University of Michigan Hospital of Ann Arbor, MI. Judith Ann Dotson was born November 19, 1952, in Almont, MI. Judy grew up and lived most of her life in the Lum/Attica, MI area. She is a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1970. Judy continued her education at Pontiac Business Institute earning her degree as a Para-Legal. She married Stephen Hillman on August 8, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Imlay City.

Judy was employed as a Para-Legal by Attorneys at Law: James Morris 1971-1976, Bahls & Shamblin 1979-2006, and MJ Sharkey 2006-2014, before retiring in 2014. Through the years, Judy also was a secretary for the Lapeer County Planning Commission and a clerk for Arcadia Township.

She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Imlay City. Judy served on the church council, was the Sunday school superintendent, and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Lapeer VFW Auxiliary 4392, the John Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a Red Cross Volunteer. Judy traveled throughout numerous countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Canada, and most of the United States. Judy enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, hand embroidery, working on her flower gardens, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by: her husband, Stephen Hillman; daughters, Layne (Mark) Brown of North Branch, MI and Paige (Andres) Ortiz of Grand Rapids, MI; her parents Joseph and Barbara Dotson; sisters, Dorothy Ella Sisson, Charlene (Dennis) Castle, and Julie (Craig) Kuttkuhn; her brothers, James Dotson, Tim Robinson and Mark (Lisa) Robinson; mother-in-law, Mary Hillman of Imlay City, MI; and her brother-in-law, Allen (Bernice) Hillman. Judy is also survived by: her grandchildren, Elias Brown and Travis (Jessie Labadie) Hunter; and her great-grandchild, Wyatt Hunter.

Judy was preceded in death by her infant brother, Joseph Dotson; and her father-in-law, Howard Hillman.

The funeral was held Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., Imlay City, MI. Pastor Wes Davis officiated. Interment followed at Arcadia Township Cemetery.
