IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity baseball team continued their winning ways, sweeping a doubleheader versus visiting non-league counterpart Vassar last Friday.

With the outcomes, Imlay City now stands at 4-0 this season.

In the opener, Imlay City picked up a 5-2 victory over Vassar.

Zach Edson (a pair of doubles), Sam Edson (a single and a double) and Trace Dennis (a pair of singles) provided the top Imlay City hit totals. They were backed by Levi Lengemann and Clayton Penzien (a single each).

Brady Detwiler was Imlay City’s pitcher of record. He allowed zero earned runs over five innings and struck out nine.

In the second contest, Imlay City registered a 10-5 triumph against Vassar.

Sam Edson, Zach Edson, Landon Jones, Mitchell Lemier, Lengemann, Detwiler and Penzien led Imlay City with a single apiece.

Zach Edson got the win for Imlay City in a relief role. He pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits. Edson struck out three and issued two walks along the way.
