Ann Bourque, 91, of Dryden, MI, passed away on April 4, 2024, at home with her family gathered to her. She was a longtime resident of Almont, MI.

Ann was born on April 15, 1932, in Regina, Saskatchewan to Josef and Terezia Betschel. She grew up on the prairies of Manitoba with her four elder siblings, Karl, Betty, Terry, and Joe. Ann was the first in her family to attend high school and she graduated from W.D. Lowe High School in Windsor, Ontario in 1950.

On June 30, 1951, Ann married John “Jack” Bourque, a WWII veteran who worked as an aircraft mechanic in Japan following the end of the war. Ann became a U.S. citizen in 1951, and the two were blessed with four children: Pamela, John, Murray, and Eric.

Ann was an industrious wife and mother who worked many different jobs in addition to caring for her family. Her favorite place of employment was the Sanders Confectionery factory in Highland Park, MI, where she worked as a cake decorator.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack (1987), her son John (1984) and her grandson Murray (2007).

Ann is survived by her children Pamela (Derek) Gillespie, Murray (Sharon) Bourque, and Eric (Shelli) Bourque, as well as grandchildren John (Emily) Bourque and Isabelle (Omer) Usmani.

Ann was a devout Christian and treasured her faith and relationship with her Savior. She will be remembered for her passion for caregiving and unyielding devotion to her family.

Visitation is on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. with Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont.
