IMLAY CITY — Imlay City swept host Marlette in a non-league varsity baseball doubleheader Monday.

With the results, Imlay City now stands at 2-0 this season.

In the opener, Imlay City claimed a 12-6 win at Marlette’s expense.

Zach Edson (two singles and a double) Sam Edson (a single and a double) and Trace Dennis (two singles) led Imlay City with multiple-hit performances. Brady Detwiler, Landon Jones, Travis Bush and Matthew Morocco (a single each) supported their performances.

Sam Edson got the win for Imlay City in a relief role. He pitched two innings, allowing zero earned runs and striking out three.

Zach Edson closed out the game for Imlay City. He gave up one hit and one earned run over his one-inning stint while striking out two batters.

Game two saw Imlay City post an 11-1 victory in a game that was called after three innings due to darkness.

Dennis (a single and a double) and Clayton Penzien (a pair of singles) paced Imlay City’s offensive attack. They were backed by Levi Lengemann (a double) along with Zach Edson, Sam Edson, Jones and Detwiler (a single apiece).

Zach Edson was Imlay City’s pitcher of record. He allowed three hits and no earned runs over the three-inning distance while registering three strikeouts and walking none.
