Hazel Johnson, age 93, of Imlay City, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Marlette United Hospice Residence.

Hazel Ellen Standel was born January 29, 1931 in Capac, MI. She is the daughter of the late Harvey and the late Ellen (Spotberry) Standel. Hazel grew up in Capac. She was a graduate of Capac High School, Class of 1951. Hazel lived most of her life in the Imlay City area. She married Robert Johnson on June 2, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Capac. Robert died on March 12, 2009.

Hazel was a life-member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Capac and of the Imlay City V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was Self-Employed as a farmer’s wife on her husband, Robert Johnson’s dairy farm in Goodland Township. She worked side-by-side with Robert milking cows, feeding calves, and running farm machinery. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at Bev Stroman’s AFC Home in Imlay City.

She is survived by: her daughters, Roberta (Rob) Reid of Burtchville, MI and Rosemary (Butch) Earehart of Imlay City, MI; sons, Roger Johnson of Imlay City, MI and Robert Johnson of Imlay City, MI; and her sisters-in-law, Kathie Standel and Marilyn Standel. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Robert (Kate) Earehart, Megan Earehart, Rebecca (Chase) Orzel, and Ryan Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Waylon, Bentley, and Colt.

Hazel was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Johnson; her son, Harvey Milford Johnson; sisters, Alice Standel and Pearl Glassford; and her brothers, Albert Standel, Don Standel, Joe Standel, and Jim Standel.

The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 109 E. Kempf Street, Capac, MI. Vicar Matt Jewel of St. John’s Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will follow in Dawn Memorial Cemetery, Lapeer, MI.

The family will be available for visitation 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 1st and from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2nd at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and from 10 – 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3rd at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
