Kevin Ray Stroup, 64, of Richmond, passed away on March 15, 2024, at his home with family by his side.

He was born in Lapeer on April 10, 1959, the son of the late William Stroup and Marilyn (Bonesteel) Anderson.

His marriage to Carrie Boom was on June 20, 1981, in Lapeer.

Kevin served his country with the Army National Guard from 1980 through 1986.

Kevin worked as a custodian for 30 years with Capac Public Schools and had been a delivery driver for Armada Grain for four years before his retirement due to health reasons. He was a former member of the Imlay City Lions Club and of the Lapeer Oddfellows Hall #94 and was an American Red Cross volunteer. Kevin enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by Carrie, his wife of 42 years; a daughter, Brianna (Charles) Hicks of Richmond; and two sons, Zachary (Miranda) Stroup and Shane (Hannah) Stroup, both of Capac; seven grandchildren, Zachary Alan, Presley, Piper, Nathalia, Waylon, Adalynn, and Luke; four siblings, Linda (Rob) Thompson, Pamela (Troy) Brewer, Gene (Sandy) Stroup, and Robin (Betty) Stroup; his mother-in-law, Susan Boom and brother-in-law, William (Nikki) Boom, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Jim Anderson; father and stepmother, William and Deloris Stroup; brother, Chris Stroup; father-in-law, Howard Boom; and mother-in-law, Ruth Adkins.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20 with 10 a.m. visiting at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Rev. Jake Geiseler, pastor of Faith Bible Baptist Church, Lapeer, will officiate.
