Lola Battaglia, Samantha Miodowski and Leah Kull earned top-10 showings for Almont at the Junior Varsity Powerlifting State Meet.

ALMONT — Almont had three girls and two boys register top-15 showings at the Junior Varsity State Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, March 2.

Lola Battaglia ended the day as champion in the 155-pound weight class.

She registered a total of 710 pounds along the way. Her effort included a squat lift of 260 pounds, a bench press of 140 pounds and a deadlift of 310 pounds.

Leah Kull placed third in the 148-pound division, thanks to a total of 630 pounds.

Samantha Miodowski wound up eighth among 148-pound weight class participants on the strength of a three lift output of 525 pounds.

William Larkin supplied the top Almont boys’ placing, pulling up 10th with a total of 715 pounds. He participated in the 132-pound weight class.

Almont also received a 13th, that coming from 155-pound weight class entrant Ben Nickrand with a three lift output of 825 pounds.
