Capac’s Alan Uribe-Arce looks to elude a pair of Brown City defenders.

CAPAC — Capac kept the outcome in doubt until the final buzzer sounded, dropping a 38-33 verdict to Brown City in a Division 3 boys’ district basketball championship battle last Friday.

Sandusky is where the action unfolded.

With the decision, Brown City improves to 12-13 this season. Capac finishes an 11-11 campaign.

In Friday’s battle, Brown City jumped out to a 15-11 advantage after one quarter was done.

Quarter two would see both teams generate six points, leaving Brown City ahead 21-17 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Brown City padded their cushion some. Aided by a 10-8 third quarter edge, the Green Devils widened the gap to 31-25 with 24 minutes gone.

Capac then put together an 8-7 fourth quarter rally, only to fall 38-33 when the final second ticked off the clock.

Wyatt Hurley (16 points, including a trifecta) proved Capac’s top offensive threat. The Chiefs also had Nolan Maday (eight points), Alan Uribe-Arce (four), Joe Dalessandro (three) and Austin Howard (two) reach the scoring column.
