Capac’s Joe Dalessandro looks to elude a Memphis defender in district action.

CAPAC — The Capac varsity boys’ basketball team handed Memphis a 72-44 setback in a Division 3 district semifinal meeting last Wednesday night in Sandusky.

With the outcome, Capac raises their mark to 11-10 overall. Memphis finishes a 1-22 season.

In Wednesday’s meeting, Capac bolted out to a 15-10 advantage after one quarter was complete and increased their cushion to 34-20 at the half.

When the action resumed, Capac continued to pull away. Aided by a 22-13 third quarter edge, the Chiefs widened the gap to 56-33 with 24 minutes gone.

Capac then outscored Memphis 16-11 the rest of the way, good for a 72-44 triumph at night’s end.

Joe Dalessandro (15, including a trifecta), Nolan Maday (12, featuring a trey), plus Austin Howard and Alan Uribe-Arce (11, with three triples, each) led Capac with double digit point totals. The Chiefs also had Adam Schaefer (six, including a pair of trifectas), Wyatt Hurley (six), Nick Delia (five, featuring a trey), Aaron Coltson (four) and Bryce Lietz (two) reach the scoring column.
