TRI-CITY AREA — A total of four grapplers from the Tri-City Area will test their well honed mat skills this Friday and Saturday at the individual wrestling state finals.

Ford Field, in Detroit, is where the action unfolds.

Imlay City will have three representatives Friday at the Division 3 state finals.

At 120 pounds, Tanner Land (44-7) starts his tournament stint versus Gladwin’s Cruz Balcirek (36-8).

The winner of that battle meets the survivor of an encounter between Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Dale Gant (40-2) and Hartford’s Roman Rodarte (33-13).

At 138 pounds, Dominic D’Ambrosio (49-1) begins tournament action against Kingsley’s Cameron Dundas (28-8).

The victor of that bout squares off versus the winner of a clash between Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Michael Wilson (14-0) and Hopkins foe Caden Brown (43-7).

Conner Wildie (45-8) will also compete for Imlay City at 138 pounds.

He opens his tournament stint versus Alma’s Buddy Leonard (40-1).

The winner of that battle meets the survivor of an encounter between Adrian Madison’s Lukas Leonard (39-7) and Lakewood’s Bryson Boucher (32-12).

The state finals will also see Capac’s Cierra Helzer see how she fares against the state’s best competition.

It will mark the third-ever sanctioned state finals for the girls’ competitors in the sport.

Helzer (17-7) starts her tournament stint versus Portage Northern’s Alyse Koss (12-2).

The winner of the battle meets the survivor of a clash between Standish’s Dannielle Christian (18-1) and Chippewa Valley’s Julia Snyder (18-10).
