IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City wrestling team will send three of their wrestlers to the Division 3 state finals March 1-2 at Ford Field in Detroit.

They saw to it they would qualify, registering top-four weight class placings last Saturday at a regional hosted by Hazel Park High School.

Dominic D’Ambrosio headlined for Imlay City that day. D’Ambrosio gained admittance to the title bout at 138 pounds where he fell 8-2 to Dundee’s Jeremy Amrhein.

Tanner Land provided Imlay City with a third. Land wrapped up 120-pound action with a 8-1 win against Lutheran Westland’s Liam Garrett.

Conner Wildie notched Imlay City’s other placewinning performance, contributing a fourth. Wildie completed his run at 138 pounds with an 8-6 setback to Lutheran Westland’s Aiden Miller.

James Johnson (113) and Travis Dupont (144) also competed for Imlay City. They ran into tough draws and wound up with 0-2 marks to show for their respective efforts.

In a Division 4 regional hosted by Manchester High School, Capac had a pair of grapplers test their mat skills.

Sam Schneider and Ryan Grant represented Capac. They finished with matching 0-2 marks at 120 pounds.
