ST. CLAIR CO. — A single vehicle accident early Tuesday morning has claimed the life of an Imlay City woman. In an update to a previous press release, the St. Clair County Sheriff Department said, “The driver, an 18-year-old female from Imlay City, was ejected in the crash. A two-year-old that was not properly restrained, was ejected during the crash and the 6-month-old who was properly restrained in a car seat, where they remained during/after the crash. Both children remain stable at this time….(2 p.m. Tuesday).

The original press release stated, “At approximately 5:30 a.m., Central Dispatch received a call of a roll over accident on westbound I-69 at the exit ramp to Wales Center Rd. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a dark blue Ford Fusion rolled over near the median. Multiple Good Samaritans stopped to assist prior to first responder’s arrival. One was attempting CPR on the assumed driver. Two others were able to get a child out of the rolled vehicle safely. Another child was located walking around the area and brought to safety. As a precaution, the children were transported to St. John Ascension, where they remain in stable condition. The female was pronounced deceased on scene by Tri-Hospital EMS personnel. I-69 was shut down by St. Clair County’s Accident Investigation Team. The road reopened at approximately 8:15 a.m. The crash remains under investigation. No further information is being released pending family notifications.
