ALMONT — Almont registered a 53-21 triumph against visiting Algonac in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls’ basketball meeting last Thursday night.

With the outcome, Almont improves to 2-8 and 1-4.

In Thursday’s meeting, Almont opened up a 14-6 advantage after one quarter was over with.

The next two quarters would see Almont hit for 29 total points and Algonac generate seven, pushing their lead to 43-13 with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then outscored Algonac 10-8 the rest of the way, good for a 53-21 win at night’s end.

Jesse Kautz (11 points, including a trifecta) paced Almont’s scoring attack. She was backed by Lydia LaCavera and Rachael Johnson (seven points each), Ava Panduren and Lauren Webster (six apiece) along with Allison Williams, Jenna Kline, Brandi Zimmer and Madi Miodowski (two each).
