Emergency crews were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on M-53 near the intersection of Bordman Rd. shortly after noon Monday. Although the scene is still active as of 2:30 p.m., a number of ambulances have been observed leaving the scene. Firefighters from Bruce Twp./Romeo fire district and Almont fire department responded to the scene along with the Almont Police, Lapeer County Sheriff Dept. and Michigan State Police. At least two passenger cars and a semi-truck were observed to have been involved in the collision, snarling traffic in both directions of VanDyke Road. The accident took place just north of the old Almont Hospital. As of this posting, there was no information on number of victims, injuries nor their extent. Southbound traffic was able to navigate around the crash scene using the shoulder of the road while northbound traffic was taking Bordman Rd. to Kidder and then back to M-53. We will have more information on this multi-vehicle collision as it becomes available.
