Jimmy D. Watz, age 94, of Lum, MI died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at his home. Jimmy Watz was born September 13, 1929, in Kings Mill (Arcadia Twp.) Michigan. He is the son of the late John and the late Clara (Stover) Watz. Jimmy lived most all of his life in the Arcadia Township area. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He earned the Army of the Occupation (Germany) Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was trained as an Artillery Specialist.

Jimmy married Ethel Gwen Kinney on December 29, 1956, at Imlay City, MI. Gwen, his wife of 64 years, passed away on April 17, 2021. Jimmy was a life member of the Imlay City V.F.W. and the Imlay City American Legion; and he and Gwen were charter members of the Lapeer County 40 & 8. He was a member of the Arcadia Twp. Fire Dept. for several years and the Fire Chief for a couple of years.

Jimmy retired from General Motors Truck & Bus in Pontiac after 32+ years in the parts distribution department. He worked as a clerk for 20 years at Len’s Party Store in Imlay City, and he worked for 20 years for LaFontaine’s Imlay City Ford as a porter (transporting vehicles from one dealership to another).

He is survived by his daughters, Dawn Crawford of Lum, MI and Connie (Bob) Swain of Lum, MI; son, Kim (Donna) Watz of Rutherfordton, NC; and a sister-in-law, Dora Watz of Lapeer, MI. Also surviving Jimmy are his grandchildren, Jimmy (Julie) Crawford, Kristina (Jamie) Amend, Eric Watz, Jennette (Scott) Sparre, Yvette (Mark) McMullen, Miranda (Corey) Rogers; and twenty-five (25) great-grandchildren.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Watz; his grandson, Jason Swain; son-in-law, Tom Crawford; his brothers, Jack (Isobel) Watz, Winnie (Ethel) Watz, Glenn (Jean) Watz, Basil (Dora) Watz, Dale (Beverly) Watz.

The funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Burial will follow in Arcadia Township Cemetery, Lum.

The family will be available for visitation 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
