James Ward, age 77, of Imlay City, MI died Friday, December 15, 2023. at his home. James Wayne Ward was born on August 18, 1946. in Detroit, MI. He is the son of George and Adelia (Waller) Ward. Jim grew up in Warren, MI and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. Jim married Sheila Jeanne Ross on October 12, 1968, in Warren, MI.

Jim was a member of Millwrights Local 1102 in Warren, MI and was employed as a Journeyman Millwright for 50 years. Jim was a member of the Lapeer American Legion and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. As an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Lapeer, Jim participated in the Men’s Work Groups, Food for Families, and when he was able, he enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila Ward of Imlay City, MI; daughters, Deirdre (Scott) Beck of Macomb Twp., MI and Stephanie Jodway of Port Huron, MI; his sister, Mary Prater of Greenfield, PA; his grandchildren: Jamie Beck, Travis Jodway, Faith Holmes, Hope Holmes, and Joshua Holmes; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Thomas Ward; and his sisters, Loretta Moore and Jacqueline Wright.

A memorial service and celebration of life for Jim will take place at Trinity Methodist Church, 1310 N. Main Street, Lapeer, MI 48446 at a future date. Interment of Jim’s cremated remains will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a later date.
