Dryden’s Jacob Burgess looks to elude a pair of Almont foes in Friday’s contest.

TRI-CITY AREA — Jacob Burgess hit a three-pointer with seven seconds remaining, lifting host Dryden to a 61-59 victory over Almont in a non-league varsity boys’ basketball battle last Friday night.

With the decision, Dryden goes to 2-1 overall. Almont slips to 3-1 this season.

In Friday’s clash, Dryden grabbed a 13-12 edge after one quarter was over with and widened the gap to 33-26 at the half.

When the action resumed, Almont bounced back with a 14-8 third quarter edge. That trimmed their deficit to 41-40 with 24 minutes gone.

Dryden then outscored Almont 20-19 the rest of the way, pulling out a 61-59 victory.

Burgess (25 points, including five trifectas), Sonny Coscione (15, featuring a trey) and Gianni Coscione (13, with two triples) paced Dryden’s scoring attack. They were backed by Hunter Hughes (four points) plus Luke Taylor and Jaylin Taylor (two each).

Marko Radisavljevic (18) and Owen Rayl (11, including a trifecta) furnished the top Almont point totals. The Raiders also had Cole Walton (eight points, featuring a trey), Jerry Schurig and Cam Bourdeau (seven, with a triple, each) plus Manny Goldstein and Chase Davedowski (a trifecta each).
