PUBLIC HEARING
Imlay Township Planning Commission will be continuing a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday December 12, 2023, at the Township Hall located at 682 N. Fairgrounds Road. The public hearing is to consider the follow request:
To consider two text amendments to the zoning ordinance. The first text amendment changes the requirements regarding the keeping of large and small animals (Section 4.5). The requirements reclassify hooved animals like sheep and goats as large animals and require them to be located on a minimum of five acres. Small animals like poultry and rabbits are allowed on less than five acres, but must be secured in an enclosure. Further revisions were made to the housing, care, number of animals, and manure management to conform to state’s generally accepted agricultural management practices. The second text amendment prohibits the use of single-wire fencing between properties (Section 5.11).
This meeting is open to the public. Anyone wishing to comment on this item but unable to attend the meeting may send their comments to – Imlay Township Planning Commission, 682 North Fairgrounds Road. Written public comments need to be submitted by Monday December 11, 2023, at 1 p.m. A copy of the proposed text amendments are available at the Imlay Township Hall, 682 N. Fairgrounds Road between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
