Jan G. Manes, 87, of New Castle, IN and formerly of Imlay City, MI, passed away on the morning of Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his home in Addison Place.
He was born on September 19, 1936, in Clawson, MI, a son of the late Horace Elliott and Anna Stacey (Williams) Manes.
Jan lived in Imlay City, MI, where he and his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Harrison Manes, raised their family. Jan enjoyed restoring their old historic home during that time. He was an electrician and worked for his brother, Buster, in his industrial electrical contracting business. Jan joined IBEW Local 58 of Detroit and was a standing member for over 50 years before retiring at the age of 62. He enjoyed hobby trains, talking cars and was a jack of all trades. Jan was highly respected and loved by everyone who knew him. He was known as kind, generous and willing to lend a hand to family, friends and his community. He will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ron (Mechelle) Manes, John Manes and Julie (Kevin) Smith; grandchildren, Aaron (Jillian) Manes, Kyle (Amber) Manes, Corrine Manes, Casey Manes, Christina (Chris) Ogborn and Brian Smith; great-grandchildren, Chase, Ryan, Carson, Dawson, Anthony, Abigail, Jenna, Evan and Claire; siblings Barbara (Ed) Berbenchuk and Robert Tuten Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Manes; brothers, Horace “Buster” Manes Jr. and Benjamin “Benny” Tuten.
