TRI-CITY AREA — Almont (no. 8 statewide among Division 4 girls’ golf squads according to the Michigan Golf Coaches Association) saw to it they would fend off all challengers, bringing home a first-place finish last Thursday from the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament.
Holly Meadows Golf Course, in Capac, is where the action unfolded.
Along with Thursday’s top finish, Almont placed first in all seven BWAC 9-hole Jamborees this season.
For their performances, Almont earns the distinction of league champions.
Almont’s pacesetting total was 375 at the BWAC Tournament. They were followed by Yale (439), Richmond (440), Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (445) and North Branch (476).
Imlay City also participated but did not field a complete squad.
Jesse Kautz (81) and Olivia Kotelnicki (89) led Almont that day. They were first and second medalists, respectively.
Nora Sinastaj, who was fifth overall, supplied the next best Almont showing with a 99. The Raiders also counted Tara Tencza’s 106.
Alexa Lengemann paced Imlay City with a 97, good for fourth medalist honors. Lakynn Alessandrini (122) and Payton Day (138) also represented the Spartans.
