Anthony “Tony” Juip, age 73, of Imlay City, Michigan passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Serene Gardens Assisted Living of Imlay City, MI. Anthony Joseph Juip was born February 2, 1950, in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Lawrence and the late Rose (Kubacki) Juip. Tony grew up in Centerline, MI until 1958 when his family moved to Brown City, MI. He graduated from Brown City High School. Tony continued his education after high school at St. Clair County Community College. He married Cletta Liddie on January 13, 1980, in Swartz Creek, MI. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Cletta, in 2016.
Tony was a self-employed sod farmer who owned Lawrence Juip Sod Farm in Goodland Twp., MI and Midwest Sod Supply in Goodland, MI and Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of West Goodland United Methodist Church and Attica United Methodist Church. Tony was a board member of the Michigan Sod Grower Association and the Goodland Township Tax Board of Review. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golf, and multiple card games including euchre, pinochle, and horse thief. Tony was the owner and operator of Sod-Busters Softball Complex in Goodland Township. In the 1980s and 1990s many top ball players from South East Michigan crossed ‘Home-Plate’ there.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Holly Juip of Muncie, IN and Lawren (Christopher Bowman) Juip of Canton, MI; son, Zachary (Rachel) Juip of North Branch, MI; and his grandchildren, Madison Jeans, Bridgette Juip, Wyatt Juip, and Sabriel Aldridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cletta Liddie-Juip; son, Robert Andee Juip; his parents, Lawrence and Rose Juip; parents-in-law, Robert & DeMaris Liddie; and his sister-in-law, Ramona Hepfner.
The funeral services were held Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Ronald Rouse, pastor of Attica Methodist Church officiated. Burial followed at Arcadia Township Cemetery in Lum, MI.
