Alice Sholtis Schuneman Nettnay, 94 ½, of Capac, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Sage Creek Senior Living, Memphis, with her loving family by her side.

She was born March 14, 1929, in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Mroczek) Sholtis.

Her marriage to William Schuneman was February 14, 1947. William passed away in 1974. Alice found love again, and her marriage to Donald Nettnay was August 22, 1975, in Capac. They were married 42 years before Don’s passing in 2017.

Alice was a 1946 graduate of Capac High School. She was the clerk and mainstay at Van Poppelen Drugstore in Capac for 45 years. In her free time, Alice enjoyed carving wood ducks, gardening, bird watching, doing yard work, journaling, camping and knitting dish cloths. Most importantly, she loved spending time with family and friends. During her stay at Sage Creek Assisted Living she made a lot of friendships, especially her roommate Irene Doutry. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the caretakers at Sage Creek Assisted Living.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Shlom and Lori (Dennis) Potter and blessed with three bonus children, Nancy (Doug) Badder, Karen (Scott) Harris, and James (Tanya) Nettnay; nine grandchildren, Erin (Thad) Kavanagh, Justin (Jorie) Harris, Adam (Kate) Nettnay, Ryan (Crystal) Potter, Kelley Harris, Tracey (Ed) Dodak, Brian (Alyssa) Badder, Suzanne (Jaime) Tovar and Brandy Cope; great-grandchildren, Anna, Jack, Will, Lauren, Lydia, Celia, Emmy, Cora, Collin, Landen, Evelyn, Madelyn, Dakota, Kaylee, Karena, Lincoln, Maya and Parker; sister-in-law, Joann Sholtis; special neighbors, Mary and Denny DeWilde and Phyllis Hoskey; a close family friend, Mark Van Poppelen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice is going to be missed tremendously.

She is preceded in death by three siblings, James Sholtis, Robert (Katherine) Sholtis and JoAnn (George) Campbell .

The family honored the memory of Alice on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 18. Pastor Matt Jewell from St. John Lutheran Church, Capac officiated.
