Robert Frank Irish, age 82, of Attica Township died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home in Attica, MI. Robert “Bob” Irish was born on December 24, 1940, in Pontiac, MI. He is the son of the late Myron and the late Gertrude Norene (Russell) Irish. Bob grew up in Attica on the family farm all of his life. He was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1959. Bob and his life partner Margaret Merwin were together for 52 years before his passing.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bob was a part of the Big Red One Artillery in Fort Riley, Kansas. He was an Honor Guard during President Herbert Hoover’s Funeral. Bob was employed by Irish Brothers Trucking of Attica, MI as an asphalt and gravel truck driver. He enjoyed hunting annually in Ishpeming, MI. Bob also liked farming and being a part of RV camping clubs around Michigan.
Bob is survived by his life partner, Margaret Merwin of Attica Township, MI; and his daughter, Suzette (Robert) Robinson of Elba Township, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Desiree (Andrew) Schenk, Trinity White, Dimitri White, and Benjamin Robinson; and one great grandchild, Theodore Schenk. Bob is also survived by his nieces, Cathy Irish and Kay Hennes; nephew, Craig Irish; great nieces ,Erin Hennes, Sarah Kerber, and Danielle Irish; and several extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Gertrude Irish; and his brothers, Richard (Mary Alice) Irish, and Fred (Joyce) Irish.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI with Pastor Michael Gordon officiating.
The family will be available for visiting 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
