Richard Lee Walker, age 92, of Imlay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Richard “Dick” Walker was born on January 4, 1931, in Almont, MI. He is the son of the late Grant and the late Gladys (Schuneman) Walker. Dick grew up in the Imlay City area and lived most of his life there. He is a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean war. Dick married Eleanor Yntema on November 18, 1949, in Imlay City, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor in 2012.
Dick was employed at Buick Motors Company in Flint, MI where he worked at Buick City in the foundry as a machine repairman for 32 years before retiring in 1982. Dick enjoyed family farming, hunting and fishing in his retirement. He also liked to play cards, especially euchre. Throughout his life he was a member with the Free and Accepted Masons, Attica-Lum Lodge, and the Shriner’s. Dick was also a member of the Goodland Community Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Sonny) Loggains of Attica, MI, Cheryl (Robert) Bryan of Attica, MI and Charlene (Desi) Rosario of Lapeer, MI; and his son, Robert (Laurie) Walker of Imlay City, MI. Dick is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Walker; daughter, Catherine Ann Walker; grandson, Ryan Oland; father, Grant Walker; step father, Elmer Rathka; mother, Gladys Walker Rathka; and his brother, Gene Walker.
The funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Goodland Community Church, 2008 N Van Dyke Rd, Imlay City, MI with Pastor Mike Tison officiating. Burial will follow at Goodland Township Cemetery.
The family will be available for visitation from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023, and from 10- 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Goodland Community Church, 2008 N Van Dyke Rd, Imlay City, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Goodland Community Church.
