Leroy Wendell Hayward, age 81, of Attica, MI passed away peacefully Thursday, August 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. Mr. Hayward was born February 27, 1942, in Port Huron, MI. He is the son of the late Wendell and the late Beatrice (Bryce) Hayward. Leroy grew up in Almont, MI. He was a graduate of Almont High School, Class of 1960. Leroy went to General Motors Institute in Flint, MI after high school to study engineering. He was employed by Buick Motor Division for 38 years holding the position Master of Product and Legal Inquiries.

Leroy was active in the Almont Community over several years, serving on the Almont School Board as well as the Almont Township Zoning and Planning Boards. Mr. Hayward was loved by so many that met or knew him. He was a wonderful example to follow for anyone who needed help or inspiration. “And when a great soul dies, after a period – peace blooms.”

He married Linda J. Glover on August 14, 1965. They had three children, Trevor (Laurie) Hayward of Oxford, MI, Amy Timmer of Attica, MI, and Robert (Lisa) Hayward of Lehigh Acres, FL. They have two grandchildren, Sydney and Merrick Hayward. Leroy also has a sister, Verna Jean Glover, of Angola, IN; two nieces, Jen (Eric) Gaff of IN and Leslie Glover of IN; and several great nephews and a great niece.

Leroy was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda; parents, Wendell and Beatrice Hayward; brother-in-law, Gary Glover; son-in-law, Gary Timmer; and his great – nephew, Tyson Gordon.

The family is planning a private memorial at a later date. A special “Thanks” to the wonderful staff at Serene Gardens Assisted Living for caring for our loved one.

Arrangements for Leroy’s cremation were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
