CAPAC — The Capac varsity volleyball team claimed a first-place finish last Saturday at the Vassar Tournament.

Capac started things off with a 25-15, 25-14 win against Mayville. They then picked up a 25-10, 25-6 victory over Bridgeport and registered a 25-12, 23-25, 15-12 triumph against Vassar.

Those outcomes left Capac as the top seed entering bracket play.

It was there Capac posted a 25-18, 25-14 semifinal win over Bridgeport.

They then challenged Vassar for tournament honors next.

When the final point hit the floor, Capac had prevailed 25-10, 25-9.

Karina Ramirez led Capac with 21 kills that day. She was backed by Madalyn Roberson (16 kills), Chloe Schocke (11), Alley Block and Lily Uribe (seven each), Nolynn Allen (six), Nevaeh Mason (five), and Skielar Tesnow (one).

Annabelle Schneider (28) and Mason (27) registered Capac’s highest dig totals. Tesnow (25 digs), Block (21), Bella Wetter (12), Roberson and Ramirez (six apiece), Uribe (five), Schocke (four), Cierra Helzer (three), Christina Howard (two), and Allen (one) supported their performances.

Tesnow (19), Block (17), Roberson (10), Mason (nine), Schneider (six) and Ramirez (two) furnished Capac’s ace serves.

Ramirez (one) had the lone Capac solo block.

A group consisting of Block (54), Mason (nine) and Howard (one) added Capac’s set assists.

With the results, Capac now stands at 5-0 this season.
