Open House to be held at Castle Creek August 20

IMLAY CITY — Anyone with back ailments in Lapeer County knew just who to get ahold of to fix them up.

After nearly five decades of adjusting backs as part of his chiropractic business, Dr. Clif Clendenan is calling it a career.

A retirement party honoring Dr. Clendenan will be held Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Castle Creek Golf Course in Lum.

Dr. Clendenan grew up in Lapeer County and graduated from North Branch High School in 1970.

Following his pre-chiropractic studies at Ferris State University, he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

In 1976, Dr. Clendenan opened his office in Imlay City. In 1980, the building at 279 W. Capac Rd. was built and Dr. Clendenan has been in practice there since January 1, 1981.

He recalled of his earlier days, “It was the winter of 1976 when I mentioned to my parents that I was thinking about opening up my chiropractic practice in Imlay City.”

He went on to add, “My dad quickly found a phone book and opened it to the Imlay City section and he went through the names. He’d say, ‘that’s a great family. those are good people, this is a wonderful family.’ You can’t go wrong with this bunch,’ all while describing families who’s names began with A to those who began with Z. My chiropractic mentor and great friend to this day, Dr. Grant Wilson had said, “Imlay City is growing and when that expressway goes through from Lapeer to Port Huron, that area is going to boom.”

Having grown up and graduated from North Branch, Dr. Clendenan chuckled and commented, “what fun it has been to give chiropractic care to my classmates, teammates, teachers and coaches, as well as those same people who were opponents on the ball fields.”

The doctor recalled one time when one of his patients turned out to be a former opposing football player who had intercepted one of Clendenan’s passes while in high school.

“My spirit is humbled that God has given me the blessing of being able to help so many wonderful people over the years,” he said.

As any good doctor will tell you, they are only as good as the people they surround themselves with.

“Every professional, every business owner, knows the immense value of their support staff,” Dr. Clendenan said. “I could not have dreamt of having any better staff than I have had for these 47 years. If you have ever been in my office, you know what I mean.”

Dr. Clendenan and Dr. Joel Hessler are dedicated to helping clients achieve optimal health through chiropractic care.

Their unique skill set and expertise combined with the use of modern equipment and technology, ensures that you are provided with high quality care and a positive experience every time you visit the office.

The retired Doc concluded, “I want to say thank you to every person that has given me the opportunity to help them feel better because they are better in some way as a result of our relationship. You have all given me a tremendous career. It’s been fun.”

Again, the retirement party honoring Dr. Clendenan will be held Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Castle Creek Golf Course in Lum.

Patients, family and friends are all invited to attend and celebrate nearly 50 years of serving others.
