TRI-CITY AREA — Tri-City teams earned three firsts and a pair of seconds last Saturday at the Imlay City 3-on-3 Tournament.

The Bums (Imlay City’s Isaac Sommer, Sam Edson, Brady Detwiler and Edward Dervishi) put together a 4-0 record, paving the way to a top finish versus Ninth and 10th grade Coed Division squads.

Their title-producing path began with a win against Chiefs. That was followed by a victory over Broncos; a triumph against Bulldogs; and a win over Broncos.

ACL (Almont’s Logan Walton, Armada’s Andrew Sniesak along with Cros-Lex’s Trey Kolakovich and Zack Kroetsch) went unbeaten as well. They posted a 4-0 mark for a first among Adult Division entries.

The Handlers (Imlay City’s Tristin Detwiler along with North Branch’s Tyrell Matthis plus Metamora’s Tommy Hayes and Henry Franckowiak) took four out of five encounters, good for a top finish among Boys’ Fifth and Sixth Grade Division squads.

Edge (Imlay City’s Macie Stine and Addison Brown plus North Branch’s Brayley Saltzman and Clarkston’s Reagan Minto) claimed a second among Girls’ Seventh and Eighth Grade Division entries.

They opened tournament play with an 18-16 loss to Lady Divas.

The team then bounced back with a 19-7 win against Scrappers; a 25-6 win against Hot Shots; a 25-2 victory over Hot Shots; a 24-20 triumph against Hoop There It Is; and a 25-10 win over Lady Divas.

That set up a title clash versus Lady Divas.

When the final scores were added up, Lady Divas had prevailed via an 18-9 scoreboard count.

Triple Threat (Imlay City’s Beau Hund, Holden Redd, Luke Forti and JD Trout) notched a second-place showing as well. They managed a 2-2 mark pitted against Adult Division counterparts.

Stepdads (Joseph Lesniak, Shane Lesniak and Jordan Lesniak along with Almont’s Connor McCarthy) went 5-2 en route to a fourth among Adult Division entries.

Chiefs (Capac’s Aaron Coltson, Collin Potter, Bryce Lietz and James Owens) were 2-3 versus Ninth and Tenth Grade Coed Division foes.

Grizzlies Elite (Imlay City’s Kash Alessandrini, Jeremiah Brown, Trent Whiting and Owen Ferguson) provided a 1-3 record against Boys’ Seventh and Eighth Grade Division counterparts.

Basket Hounds (Imlay City’s Griffin Wetzel, Dallas Miller, Will Cilk and Easton Finch) also participated at the Imlay City 3-on-3 Tournament. They wound up 0-3 against Boys’ Seventh and Eighth Grade Division foes. The team won the Sportsmanship Award on their court.
