ALMONT — Detroit Prospects-Capoferi 16U baseball team, which includes Almont’s Nolan Maxlow and Tyler Brown, obtained a first-place finish at the USSSA Mid Summer Classic recently.
The tournament was contested July 21-23 at Chippewa Valley High School.
Their team started things off with a 22-2 rout of Michigan Premier-Varon on Friday, July 21.
The following day saw them drop a 7-5 verdict to Midwest Cubs and fall 17-1 to Detroit Prospects Sadlowski.
They then bounced back with a 7-4 win against Midwest Cubs and a 4-1 victory over Detroit Prospects-Sadlowski on Sunday, July 23 to notch a first-place finish.
In the title game, Maxlow provided his team with a single, a triple and four stolen bases.
Brown was the winning pitcher. He allowed five hits, struck out six and walked two over his seven-inning stint.
