IMLAY CITY — For many, the best thing about a summer festival or fair is the food. If that’s your thing, you’ll get your fill at the Imlay City Summer Fest.

A number of food trucks offering sweet and savory items, as well as unique festival/fair food will be on hand all weekend.

Youngsters pucker to take part in Vlasic pickle eating contest at last year’s Summer Fest.

Vendors include Kona Ice, Sweet Spinner Cotton Candy, Swanky Fox BBQ, Twisted Burger, Elephant Ear Truck, Kin Thai Cuisine, Liquid Gold Cider and Donuts and Motor City Hot Dogs.

Visitors can also stop in the traditional brick and mortar restaurants downtown including Botana’s El Piaza, Jalisco’s, and Dee’s Country Cafe. As always nearby restaurants such as Johnny’s Place, and LaFonda Mexican Restaurant on Old M-21, Silver Grill, Stevo’s, Bomb Burgers & Breakfast, Lucky’s and other eateries along M-53 will also welcome guests throughout the festival weekend.

Visitors will also find lots of options at this year’s beverage tent. Beverages including beer, wine, tea, seltzer and punches—including moonshine and vodka punch and moonshine and coconut rum punch will be served perfectly chilled by smiling Chamber volunteers. All beverages are just $3, and guests will enjoy entertainment including a DJ and live music.

As always, visitors of all ages will have a chance to test their eating skills at fun-filled eating contests. This year’s competitions include taco eating, Vlasic pickle eating, slider eating and pie eating contests.
