Dear Editor,

It really does depend on you–yes, each and every one of you. Everyone needs to come to the meeting on August 10 at the Attica Township offices at 7 p.m. to make sure all the words that can possibly be heard about the pros and cons of having a gas station in Attica at the corner of Lake Pleasant and Newark Roads are made public.

If you’re a homeowner, landowner, taxpayer, business owner, or a friend of these people, it would be very important for you to be there. Just in case you know something no one else does, or they are too shy to say it, or you can help them by being a friend and giving them courage to state their feelings. This is very important to each and every one of us.

Can the “gas station”, turn into a gas station/truck stop? Maybe, at this point not too much has been done. Perhaps it’s just being put out there to get you used to the idea of a gas station so close to you.

It seems a gas station is innocuous enough— doesn’t make a lot of fuss, not too much noise, not too many fumes, not too many people, not too much light. But then plans are submitted…And they decide as long as there is already a gas station there, why not turn it into a truck stop also. It’s only more traffic, more noise, more and worse smell, many more people, some of them the unsavory kind. Now you have to have a small mini mart for the truck drivers, so convenient, then it is a small store to hold just the essentials for truck drivers etc.

So the best thing you can do is be there August 10 at 7 p.m, Attica Township office on Peppermill Road in the small, quiet, clean- smelling, low-crime area, town of Attica.

It is important, that you remain calm, cool, and collected. Bring your questions written on paper, and for heaven sake bring your glasses and put in your hearing aids. Lets be ready to do battle…..See you there…..Oh! Yes, the press is invited too…..:)

Sincerely,
— Diane Malczewski
