Wilfred James Schwartz, 83, of Imlay City died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at his home. Wilfred “Jim” Schwartz was born on January 8, 1940, in Mt. Clemens, MI. He is the son of the late Isabell (Parrott) and the late Wilfred Alfred “Butch” Schwartz. Jim and Mary Campbell were married on June 30, 1962, in Utica. They lived in Shelby Township and Lexington before moving to Imlay City in 2014. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Mary.
He is survived by his four children: Kimberley (Giovanni) LaFata, Gregory (Jennifer) Schwartz, Michelle (Richie) Rebecca, and Leane (Kevin) Stacy. Jim was a beloved Papa to his five grandchildren Danielle Schwartz, Nicholas Schwartz, Dillon Stacy, Luke LaFata, and Sofia Lafata. Jim is also survived by his siblings Harold Schwartz, Judy Rife, Betty Lou Schwartz, and Sandy Prewitt.
Jim was a manager at General Motors in the metallurgy department in Pontiac for 33 years. He loved gardening, cooking, golfing, spending time with his family, and making trips to his favorite casino. He was witty and could share facts about anything.
Memorial service arrangements will be announced at a later date. Jim and Mary’s remains will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
