Evelyn Ryckman, age 96, of Imlay City, MI, died Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the United Hospice Residence of Marlette, MI. Evelyn Pearl Blank was born January 11, 1927, in Capac, MI. She is the daughter of the late Benjamin and Margie (Evans) Blank. She grew up in Capac and was a graduate of Capac High School, Class of 1945. She married Basil ‘Bud’ Lyle Ryckman on October 5, 1946, in Lapeer, MI. Evelyn and Bud had lived in Imlay City since 1958. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, on June 14, 2010.

She was a bookkeeper at Blank’s Tax Preparation & Bookkeeping Service in Imlay City for 27 years. She retired in the 1980s.

Evelyn golfed in many women’s leagues at Lum International Golf Course (now Castle Creek Golf Club) in Lum, MI. She was a former Girl Scout leader.

She was a dedicated Detroit Tigers baseball fan; didn’t miss listening to very many games.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ruby of Caseville, Jeanette (Dale) Buike of Caseville, and Joanne (Vic) Moenaert of Imlay City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Debra (Mark) Krentz, Bryan (Jamie) Buike, Tracey (Jeff) Combs, Wendy (Scott) VanderPloeg, Shelley (Jeff) Carney, William Purcell, James (Tina) Purcell, and Ryan (Angie) Ruby; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Emma, Dakota, James, Elaine, Allison, Micayla, Cameron, Madison, Claire, Brady, Erin, Ashton, Haley, Hunter, and Hannah; and her great-great-grandchildren, Ryder, Harper and Maverick.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Ryckman; brothers, Bernard (Bernice) Blank and Neil (Charlotte) Blank; sister, Audrey Blank Vilas; and son-in-law, Ronald Ruby.

The funeral was held Friday, June 30, 2023, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Timothy Ericson of the Trinity Baptist Church officiated. Burial followed in Goodland Township Cemetery.
