Royal Rubes performing June 24, 2023

ALMONT — On Saturday, June 24, 2023, the Almont Community Historical Society celebrated the 26th anniversary of the opening of the museum. We wish to thank those that came by and listened to the “Royal Rube” perform and visited the museum.

The Society sponsored “Royal Rubes” performed for about an hour in front of the museum. When traffic backed up from the stop light, they were treated to the sounds of the “Royal Rubes” and responded with applause and honking of horns.

The “Royal Rubes” consist of band leader Michael Swanger on trumpet, co-band leader and original “Royal Rube” member Kevin LaHaie on trombone, Gloria Bublitz on tuba and trombone, Dale Friedenstab as lead percussionist/kit drummer, Valentina Todero on percussionist/kit drummer, and their newest member, Jenna Divo on flute.

The “Royal Rubes” will next perform at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Almont District Library (Henry Stephens Memorial Library) as the final act for the “End of Summer Reading Program”.

At Almont’s “Heritage Festival”, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, the “Royal Rubes will perform at the museum at 1 p.m. and in Community Park at 4 p.m.

The “Royal Rubes” are an Almont institution that begun in 1934.

The Almont Community Historical Society Museum is open nearly every Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
