Cora Norma Smith, age 66, of Port Huron, MI (formerly of Phoenix, Arizona) died Monday, June 12, 2023 at Serene Gardens Assisted Living of Imlay City, MI. Cora Norma Sanchez was born September 27, 1956 in Imlay City, MI. She is the daughter of the late Carlos and Myra (Casillas) Sanchez, Sr. Norma grew up in Imlay City, MI. She is a graduate of Imlay City High School. Norma continued her education in Phoenix, Arizona and received her Bachelors of Nursing. She continued to live in Phoenix, AZ for 30 years before moving back to Port Huron, MI.
Norma was employed as a Registered Nurse by the Carl T. Hayes Veterans Administration Medical Center in Phoenix, AR for 30 years before retiring.
Norma is survived by: her son, Robert Rodriguez, Jr.; mother, Myra (Casillas) Sanchez, Sr.; her sisters, Delores Rhodes of Lapeer, MI, Lydia (Michael) Merritt of Mississippi, Carolyn (Luis) Colon of New York and Melivia (Craig) Mutch of Attica, MI; and her brothers, Henry Sanchez of Lapeer, MI, Carlos Sanchez, Jr. of Attica, MI and Benito (Nicole) Sanchez of Brown City, MI. She is also survived by her grandchildren, LaRenzo Rodriguez of Oscoda, MI, Adriena Rodriguez of Imlay City, MI and Alexander Rodriguez of Imlay City, MI.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Carlos Sanchez, Sr.; and her brother, John Steven Sanchez.
The Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Fr. Noel Cornelio, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will officiate.
The family will be available for visitation 2-5 & 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2023, 2-5 & 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 15th p.m. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI, and 12:30-1:30 p.m., Friday, June 16th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
