Capac’s Chloe Schocke looks to throw out a runner in district action
CAPAC — The Capac softball team notched a pair of wins en route to a Division 4 district title last Saturday in Genesee.
It marked the third straight season Capac has claimed district honors. Capac began their title-producing path with a 21-0 victory over Genesee.
Madalyn Roberson and Paige Hansen (a single and two doubles each) Skielar Tesnow (two singles), Annabelle Schneider and Jewel Rickman (a triple apiece) plus Julia Schaefer and Robin Owens (a single each) contributed Capac’s hits.
Roberson was Capac’s pitcher of record. She threw a no-hitter over three innings, struck out six and walked one.
Capac then squared off versus Mayville for the distinction of champions next.
When the final scores were added up, Capac had handed Mayville a 16-5 setback.
Tesnow (two singles and two home runs) proved Capac’s toughest out. Schaefer (two singles and a double), Roberson (a single and a double), Chloe Schocke, Schneider and Hansen (two singles apiece) along with Rachael Mirling and Owens (a single each) supported her performance.
With the outcomes, Capac (23-11) advances to regional play this Saturday in Kingston. There they will face Brown City in an 11 a.m. semifinal contest.
