Susan Toole, age 65, of Imlay City, MI died as the result of an accident, Sunday, May 28, 2023, in Imlay City, MI. Susan Arlene McClelland was born February 28, 1958 in Madrid, IA. She is the daughter of the late Robert and the late Radene (Hurst) McClelland. Susan grew up and attended grade school in Madrid, IA. She and her family moved to Dryden, MI in her teen years. Susan is a graduate of Dryden High School, Class of 1976. She moved to Imlay City, MI in 1993. Susan married Jeffery Toole, Sr. on July 5, 1994 in Arkansas.
She was a self-employed seamstress for 20+ years. Earlier in her career, Susan held several different positions: she was employed at Imlay City Plastics, she was a nanny in Rochester, MI, Susan worked at a bridal shop in Shelby Twp., MI, and as a teenager, she worked at the Chuck Wagon restaurant in Dryden, MI.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jeffery Toole, Sr.; daughters, Rene (Nathan) Hutchins of Lapeer, MI and Laura Sawgle of Warren, MI; and her step-daughters, Karen and Kim. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kiera, Robert, Damien, Robert, and Nora; brothers, Michael McClelland and Steven (Ilissa) McClelland; and her nieces and nephews, Felicyia (Jake) Dawson, Robert McClelland, and Jessice McClelland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Radene McClelland; step-son, Jeffery K. Toole, Jr.; and her brothers, Tom McClelland and Ron McClelland.
The funeral service will be held 1p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at New Life Christian Church, 4411 Newark Road, Attica, MI.
The family will be available for visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 3 at New Life Christian Church, 4411 Newark Road, Attica, MI. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to Michigan Veteran’s Home, 47901 Sugarbush Rd., Chesterfield, MI, 48047.
