Maxine Halbert, age 87, of Imlay City, MI died Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Maxine Mina Millikin was born June 9, 1935 in Brown City, MI. She is the daughter of the late Max and the late Ethel (Jackson) Millikin. Maxine grew up in Brown City and attended Brown City High School. She married Charles Halbert on September 19, 1953 in Brown City, MI. Maxine and Charles moved to the Imlay City area in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on June 5, 2022.
She was employed as a baker by Imlay City Bakery for many years. Maxine enjoyed painting with acrylics and frontier style painting. She liked to listen to country music, especially Vince Gill.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Halbert of Dryden, Becky (Scott) Cinader of Imlay City, MI, Sherry Halbert of Clinton Twp., Sally (Mike) Hutchins of Imlay City, Trudy (Tom) Koss of Pontiac and Lindy Harley of Sterling Heights; son, Robb Halbert of Imlay City, MI; her sisters, Nancy Webb of Brown City, and Judy Krause of Peck; sixteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Halbert and her siblings, Tom, Bonnie, and Pat.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 12, 2023 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Jeff DuFour, pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church, officiated. Interment followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
