BERLIN TOWNSHIP
BOARD MEETING SYNOPSIS
May 8, 2023
Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Supervisor Winn. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Members present: Parks, Klos, Winn, Christian & Wittstock. April minutes approved. Treasurer’s report approved. Planning Commission: 3 splits were approved, a landscape/ design/landscape retail business is looking to purchase the old bank building on Capac Road and a resident is interested in raising pheasants to sell. Fire report: past due run sheets were turned in (current one is missing), checks will not be signed until proper initials are on invoices, R&R bill will be called on by Supervisor Winn, many other issues were brought up during a very “heated discussion” (please see the minutes on the website if you are interested). Senior report: regular activities attended and grant awarded by Four County Community Foundation – funds will be awarded only after the Fire Department finalizes the paperwork on the grant they received. Park report: Country Garage Sale will be June 15/16/17 and Farmer’s Market will be on Wednesdays with no charge to come and set up to sell your approved items. Discussed: limestone needed at West Berlin Cemetery, audit will be 5/24 and Clean-up Day will be 6/17 (8 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Fire Department budget was approved, but expenses will still need to be balanced correctly between “regular operating expenses” and “new equipment purchases”. Audience: limestone haul/chloride will happen pretty soon and questions about a vacant home were discussed. Motion to pay the bills made and accepted. Motion to adjourn 8:40 p.m. A complete copy of the unapproved current minutes is available at the township hall during business hours and on the township website within a couple days of the meeting.
