ALMONT — The Almont varsity softball team (no. 4, Division 3) halved a Blue Water Area Conference doubleheader with visiting Algonac (no. 3, Division 3) on Tuesday, May 9.

In the opener, Algonac notched a 6-1 win against Almont.

Grace Koenig led Almont with a pair of singles. The Raiders also had Brooklyn Bunch (a double) along with Devin Johnston and Lauren Webster (a single each) reach the hitting column.

In the second game, Almont bounced back with a 13-3 victory over Algonac.

Lydia LaCavera (two singles and a double) and Koenig (three singles) proved Almont’s toughest outs. They were backed by Johnston (a single and a triple), Webster (a pair of singles) and Elly Schapman (a single).

Bunch and LaCavera shared the pitching responsibilities for Almont. They gave up five total hits over five innings, struck out two and walked two.
