James ‘Jim’ Simons, age 72, of Imlay City, Michigan died Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home after an extended illness. James Paul Simons was born August 27, 1950 in Imlay City, MI. He is the son of the late Joseph Charles and the late Faith Marie (MacDonald) Simons. Jim grew up and lived most of his life in the Imlay City Area. Jim was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1968; he then attended Central Michigan University. Jim married Karrie Sue Thane on March 26, 1983 in Lapeer, Michigan.
After college, he started working with his father and shortly thereafter, he became the owner of S & S Electric in Imlay City. He has operated that business for 40+ years.
Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was involved in the ministry for many years. Jim really enjoyed the outdoors.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Karrie Simons of Imlay City; his daughter: Renee (Jason) Harrison of Hadley, MI; his son: Ryan (Casey) Simons of Yale, MI; and by grandchildren: Charlee, Jack, and Adelaide. Also surviving are: a sister, Sharon (Larry) Arms of Lapeer, MI; brother, Kenneth (Ellen) Simons of Hollister, CA; and his mother-in-law, Kay Stebbins of Lapeer, MI.
Jim was preceded in death by: his daughter, Rachel Simons; his parents, Joe and Faith Simons; and his father-in-law, Floyd Thane.
The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Officiating will be family friend and missionary Pastor Pedro Garcia. Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City.
The family will be available for visiting hours 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10th at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
