Mary Dobos, age 98, of Imlay City, died on May 1, 2023. Mary was born on November 5, 1924, on a farm in Imlay City. She was the daughter of Wesley and Eva (O’Lary) Popa. Mary married Joseph James Dobos on September 22, 1944, at Saint Rose Church in Detroit. Mary was a life-long resident of Imlay City, except for four years during World War II when she was a “Rosie-the-Riveter” as a crew leader at the Hudson Motor Company airplane factory in Detroit. After the war, she moved back to Imlay City. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, active in the Imlay City Cub Scout program and the Imlay City High School Band Boosters. Mary worked at Vlasic Foods for 30 years as a supervisor and in the lab. She had a talent for art and became an expert in painting Ukrainian Easter eggs. Her husband passed away after 62 years of marriage in 2006. Mary was preceded in death also by her sister, Val, and brothers, Wesley and Eugene. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Marjorie) Dobos of Lapeer; and nephews George (Mary) Popa, John Koss, Albert, Gregory, and Dennis DeMascio; and several great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI.

The family will be available for visitation 4-8 p.m. (with rosary recitation at 7 p.m.), Sunday, May 7 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
