Eva Dougherty, age 83, of Imlay City, MI died Friday, April 28, 2023 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital. Eva Mae Wiegersma was born February 2, 1940 in Detroit, MI. She is the daughter of the late Frank and the late Agnes (Veen) Wiegersma. Eva lived most of her life in the Imlay City area. She is a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1958. She attended Lapeer Community Vo-Tech and earned a certificate in nursing-aid. Eva married James Dougherty on July 2, 1966 in Imlay City, MI.
Eva was a home maker, and was employed for short periods of time for Art Place Cleaner as a clerk, Wiegersma Dairy Farm in Imlay City, and A&W Restaurant in Imlay City.
Eva was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Imlay City and Imlay City VFW Auxillary.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Eva was a collector of glass silhouette reverse paintings. She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Eva is survived by: her husband, James Dougherty of Imlay City, MI; sons, James Dougherty of Attica, MI and David Dougherty of Imlay City, MI; her grandchildren, Megan, Connor, and Evan; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Wiegersma of Imlay City, MI.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Frank and Agnes Wiegersma; infant daughter, Jenny Ann Dougherty; her sisters, Joyce (Ray) Bridenbaugh and Jeanette Louwsma; and brothers, Chester Wiegersma, Edward (Minabelle) Wiegersma and Roger Wiegersma.
The Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., Imlay City, MI. Pastor Wes Davis will officiate. Interment will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.
The family will be available for visitation Wednesday, May 3 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Those wishing to make memorial contributions, may direct them to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
