
The Lapeer County Concert Choir will perform at the Christian Reformed Church in Imlay City at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5.
TRI-CITY AREA — The Lapeer County Concert Choir was busy at an all day retreat on Sat., April 15, tasked with putting the finishing touches on their upcoming spring concerts.
The choir also practices weekly for two hours every Monday evening.
On Friday, May 5, the choir will present an evening concert at 7 p.m., while the Sunday, May 7, concert will be in the afternoon at 4 p.m.
This year marks the choir’s 54th season in the Lapeer community.
Director Dr. Edward Howell has chosen selections to coincide with the theme “Poems, Prayers & Promises.” The pieces set to music include poems by Robert Frost, Rudyard Kipling, Robert Burns, and William Butler Yeats.
Other favorite selections include “I Sing Because I’m Happy,” “Give Me Jesus,” and “Ain’t That Good News.”
The choir’s piano accompanist is Nancy Tazzia, and the audience will have the added pleasure of hearing the “Heritage String Quartet” perform.
The Friday, May 5 concert at 7 p.m. will take place at the Christian Reformed Church in Imlay City.
The Sunday, May 7 afternoon concert at 4 p.m. will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer.
