Virginia Bublitz, age 91, of Lapeer, MI died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her home. Virginia Lee Knust was born May 26, 1931 in Romeo, MI. She was the daughter of the late Walter and the late Ethel (Sutton) Knust. She grew up in Romeo, MI and was a graduate of Romeo High School. Virginia continued her education for a year or so at Eastern Michigan University (previously Michigan Normal College). She married Walter Bublitz on December 31, 1950 in Romeo, MI.
Virginia and Walter were dairy farmers until 2007. They continued crop farming for many years beyond that.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Imlay City. Virginia enjoyed sewing 100s of quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was a dedicated volunteer and blood donor for the Red Cross Blood Mobile at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and throughout Lapeer County. Virginia enjoyed bowling and was on a ‘Holy Rollers’ church bowling league in Lapeer for many years.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Walter Bublitz; daughters, Gloria Bublitz of Lapeer, MI, Joy Bublitz of Lapeer, MI and Judy Bublitz of Lapeer, MI; her son, William “Bill” (Lisa) Bublitz of Attica, MI; siblings, Eleanor Mehl, Lester (Barbara) Knust, Walter Knust, Lois Ann Burke and Richard (Janet) Knust; and her grandchildren, Ian (Mary) Bublitz and Boris Bublitz; and great-grandchildren, Uma, Lila and Sunny.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ethel Knust; brothers, Russell Knust and Donald (Sharon) Knust; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Knust.
A memorial service is being planned for 11 a.m., Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., Imlay City, MI.
Arrangements for Virginia cremation were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
