TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont boys’ track team (115 points) outscored Bad Axe (95), Unionville Sebewaing (81), Brown City (73.5), Cass City (50), Marlette (46), Reese (44.5), Mayville (39), Laker (30), Capac, Dryden and Vassar (22 each) along with Harbor Beach (20) en route to a first-place finish last Friday at the Marlette Invitational.

Chase Battani, pole vault, 13 feet; Drew VanDyke, discus, 134 feet 5 inches; Carson Wood, 100-meter dash, 12.21 seconds; and Wade Szydlowski, 800 run, 2:14.67; led Almont with individual event firsts.

Tim Miller, 100-meter dash, 12.22 seconds; and Battani, 110 (16.65 seconds) and 300 hurdles (44.05 seconds); collected Almont’s seconds.

Capac’s John Schoen (L) and Almont’s Wade Syzdlowski (R) battle it out in the 800 run Friday at the Marlette Invite.

The Almont 800-meter relay of Matthew Bacholzky, Nolan Maxlow, Miller and Szydlowski took second as well. They were timed in 1:39.23.

Maxlow, high jump, 5 feet 4 inches; VanDyke, shot put, 38 feet 3 inches; and Brendan Cynowa, 100 dash, 12.47 seconds; contributed fourths to Almont’s cause.

The Almont 1600 (Cole Walton, Brendan Cynowa, Szydlowski and Maxlow) and 3200-meter (Jacob Biolchini, Alex Heiden, Gavin Campbell and Szydlowski) relays wound up fourth as well. They were timed in 3:49.78 and 9:45.75, respectively.

Bacholzky, 200 dash, 24.83 seconds; gave Almont a fifth.

Battani, long jump, 17 feet 7 1/4 inches; furnished the lone Almont individual event sixth.

The Almont 400-meter relay of Nick Shiner, Miller, Walton and Cynowa placed sixth as well. They were timed in 48.71 seconds.

Josiah Clark, pole vault, 9 feet 6 inches; and Bacholzky, 400 dash, 57.11 seconds; supplied Almont with sevenths.

Walton, high jump, 5 feet 2 inches; Bacholzky, long jump, 16 feet 7 3/4 inches; Luke Loomis, 110-meter hurdles, 19.89 seconds; and Maxlow, 400 dash, 57.85 seconds; added eighths for Almont.

John Schoen, 800-meter run, 2:14.94; paced Capac with a second.

Kyle Wetter, 110 hurdles, 17.83 seconds; collected a third for Capac.

Wetter, 300-meter hurdles, 45.72 seconds; provided Capac with a fourth.

Tyler McKenney, 200 dash, 25.43 seconds; contributed a seventh to Capac’s cause.

The Capac 1600-meter relay of Blake Baden, Schoen, Wetter and McKenney added an eighth. They were timed in 4:03.25.

Aiden Fitchett, 1600 (4:54.38) and 3200 (10:50) runs; led Dryden with a pair of firsts.

Dryden also received eighths from Cody Jackson, shot put, 36 feet 5 inches; and Logan Romain, 3200-meter run, 12:17.
